2009-09-22 - On last Sunday the 20th September 2009, the first Vietnam Golden FDI Award ceremony was solemnly held at Hanoi Opera House under the sponsor by the Ministry of Planning & Investment and Ministry of Industry & Trade.
ABB in Vietnam was honored with the prize for typical FDI enterprise among 85 other awarded FDI businesses nationwide. The award ceremony was live broadcasted on the national television VTV1, with the presence of high-ranking officers from Vietnam government and relevant authorities: Mr. Nguyen Thien Nhan, Deputy Prime Minister, Mr. Mai Thanh Hai, President of VN FDI association and Chairman of organizing committee, Mr. Nguyen Mai, Former Deputy Head of SCCI and deputy ministers from MPI and MOIT. The Vietnam Golden FDI is strongly supported by the government as an initiative to promote the foreign direct investment in Vietnam and the Government’s acknowledgment of FDI companies’ contribution for the sake of developing Vietnam.
Besides the corporate prize, our Country Manager was awarded a prize for CEO as recognition for his contribution in FDI development in Vietnam.
According to MPI and MOIT’s reports, there are more than ten thousand FDI businesses currently operating in Vietnam. In 2008, FDI accounts for 28% of Vietnam GDP and contributes over 50% of export volume. Despite the global economic crisis, Vietnam expects to receive around 20 billion USD from FDI this year and 22 billion USD in 2010.
