2009-12-06 - Vinaxuki is the first Vietnamese automobile company using ABB Robots in their factories in Dong Anh and Thanh Hoa Province. ABB robots are used in press tending, plasma cutting and laser cutting. With this breakthrough, Vinaxuki hope that they can achieve higher product quality in accordance with international standards.
Vinaxuki has cooperated with ABB to build robot based automation systems from press tending to plasma and laser cutting for trucks and new car models. Answering the question why Vinaxuki has decided to invest in ABB robots in their factories, Mr Bui Ngoc Huyen – General Director of Vinaxuki said “During my trips to Europe and Japan, I have seen the efficient applications of ABB robots in car manufacturing process. Therefore I got interested to bring robot technology into our factories. When working directly with ABB, we are impressed with their professional working style and dedicated customer care service. Especially, their technical service teams are always ready to support our factory when needed, that’s why I confidently choose ABB to build up robot system in Vinaxuki”. In its 2010 plan, Vinaxuki will install more ABB robots for painting and welding processes in order to increase product quality and improve working conditions.
In 2009, ABB provides 9 robots IRB 6640 for 2 press lines to produce car body parts. After parts formed from press lines, depending on their types, they will be put into robot plasma or laser cutting system. The IRB 6640 will use laser system to cut mild steel parts and also handles the task of putting parts in and out of cutting system. Beside that, two robots IRB2400 and IRB4400 will integrate with plasma power source to cut auto steel parts having thickness from 2mm to 6mm.
Bing Kong, Local Division Manager of Robotics in Vietnam said: “We are honored to supply robot system to Vinaxuki and we will do our best to fully support Vinaxuki in managing their robots. ABB Robotics is willing to provide robots and system solutions for Vietnamese auto manufacturers in body-in-white, paint system, engine assembly or press automation to improve productivity, quality and safety level to meet the market needs”
